The Green Team at Holy Trinity Lutheran church REJOICES in God’s awesome work in his creation of our planet, the Earth. The green team promotes REDUCE, REUSE and RECYCLE to further our mission:

Our purpose is to encourage Holy Trinity leaders, congregation and friends to live our lives as good stewards of God's creation. We will do this by living God's earth in the most ecologically sound way possible, so that future generations can enjoy in the same bountiful earth that we are able to in our time.

The Green Team Banner

The Green Team was formed in Fall 2008 and in its first year has made many strides to increase the green initiatives at Holy Trinity:

Implemented recycling at Holy Trinity by placing containers in all classrooms, office areas, music rooms and the CLC.
Added signs as reminders for recycling.
Visited Sunday School classes to encourage recycling and reducing waste.
Presented information on Sunday morning slide shows.
Increased awareness of green initiatives.
Promoted use of recyclable materials including changing the cups for Sunday morning coffee.
Switched incandescent light bulbs to CFL throughout the campus.
Began an energy audit at Holy Trinity, which will continue throughout this fall.

The Green Team held Holy Trinity’s first Earth Day celebration on April 19, and had a booth on the patio at Rally Day 2009. We are promoting 2010 Acts of Green at Holy Trinity in 2010, in the spirit of One Million Acts of Green. To date HT members and friends have committed to 233 Acts of Green, which will reduce our carbon foot print by 149,203 lbs/year!
