Choirs and Ensembles |
Our churchs
music program is varied and exciting. But the purpose of all our music is to proclaim
the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to lift up our hearts to God.
Senior Choir
- (high school through adult)
Our
Senior Choir is open to people high school age and older. The Senior Choir currently
numbers between 35-45 people, depending on the time of year. (Our numbers are larger
during the winter months.) They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 7-8:30pm from mid-August through mid-May, and
help lead
worship approximately three out of every 5 Sundays per month. This choir
presents a Christmas and
Palm Sunday Cantata each year. Their repertoire covers a broad spectrum -
from classical to jazz, traditional to contemporary, with even a couple of
plainsong chants from time to time! Want more info? Contact

Junior Choir
- (second through sixth grades)
This is the elementary age choir, encompassing second through sixth graders.
They rehearse on Thursday evenings from 6-7pm. In this choir, kids (learn
to) read music through games and activities. They assist in leading worship
through music at worship services approximately every three weeks. In
addition to vocal music, they play handbell anthems and Orff instruments, and
occasionally accompany themselves and the congregation on instruments. They
also "team up" with other choirs and ensembles for intergenerational songs
sometimes. In addition to these activities they present a musical in the
spring (May) for congregational worship on a Sunday morning.

Youth
Ensembles (Jr. and Sr. High)
We know how busy Jr. and Sr. High students are, so we have developed a
program that "works into" their complicated schedules. We offer an
intermittent practice schedule that allows them to perform vocal, handbell
and instrumental music at worship following 3-5 rehearsals (depending on the
complexity of the music). Youth who are interested in regular participation
may join the Sr. Choir and/or work on praise teams (below).
Prayz-n-play
PRAYZ n PLAY is a wonderful
Thursday evening program for kids 4 years old
through 1st. grade. We have
musical activities, arts & crafts, play time with a Christian emphasis.
This action packed HOUR is co-taught by three teachers who have chosen to
stay at home with their own children; Kim Finder, Patty Loyer and Linda
Voss. Tell your neighbors and extended family...you don't need to attend
Holy Trinity to enjoy this program.

Handbell
Choir
This five-octave choir leads worship approximately every three weeks.
Rehearsals are on Thursday evenings from 7-8:30pm, and include training,
practice, skills development and techniques and (of course) anthems! Both
experienced and first-time ringers are welcome! This choir offers a holiday
concert in December, and teams with the Sr. Choir in presenting music at
Christmas and Easter cantatas. The choirs also present joint anthems through
the year. Director Mike Riggert-Harris would be happy to answer any
questions you may have, (mike@htlutheran.com).

Praise Teams
Our 10:45am praise service offers some of our musicians an opportunity to
play contemporary Christian music with a small ensemble every month. The
teams play one Sunday of the month, and rehearse together at 9:45am the
Sunday mornings that they play. Musicians in this group are experienced
and work independently to prepare their music, which they receive in
advance of the rehearsal. Often they are recruited from choirs, ensembles
and orchestra. Speak with Val Rehrer if you are interested in
participating in one of these teams.

Church Orchestra
and Instrumental Ensembles
The Church Orchestra is open to anyone who has completed a full year of training (private
or school) on an instrument. You need to be in fifth grade or older (no age
limit!) OR (if you are younger) you need to audition on your instrument.
This group is a terrific intergenerational group where experienced
musicians can provide leadership and mentoring for younger ones! The Orchestra plays
3-4 times per
year at present, at our traditional worship services. Music and music stands are provided, but
musicians must furnish their own instruments, (and reeds, valve oil, etc).
Music packets are provided a few weeks before rehearsal begin to those on
the roster. You may sign up by e-mail (send
to val@htlutheran.com). Rehearsals are held on Sunday mornings.
We have
several Instrumental ensembles (string, woodwind and brass) which
are formed out of the orchestra membership. These groups provide music at
worship from time to time. If you are interested, please send an e-mail to
Val. These groups are invitational, depending on how many parts are
required for the song and what instruments are needed.
